Based in Cape Town

In a small Township of Stellenbosch emerged a 12 member acapella music group, Abaqondisi Brothers (Brothers of Understanding). Since establishment in 1992, they always wow the crowds with their magical voices whenever they perform. Performing in various languages, these musical sensations have forged unique harmony structures in various styles. Abaqondisi CD releases over the past 10 years are Ezulwini Lami, Umtheth' Uyavuma, Isifingo, Izwe Lesithembiso - The Promised Land, Ilizwe Aliphucuki and the latest “The spirit of healing” as released by Afrimusik Records. Other than their day to day performances country-wide including a performance at President Mandela's 80th Birthday Bash, they also impressed dignitaries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Abaqondisi has shared the stage with various superstars like: Ringo, Stimela, Tkzee, Obenda of Norway, Sibongile Khumalo, Prophets of da City, Winston Mankunku, Jimmy Dludlu, Boom Shaka, Bongo Maffin etc. They also featured on various compilations like: Rugby World Cup 99, Die ANC Ruk in die Kaap, and recently donated a song to Trees for Life in America.
Their magical harmonies have sent waves to the rest of the world media circles when they performed both SA and Italian National Anthems during the Italian Rugby team's visit to South Africa. The group has also appeared on several Television programs, such as Ezodumo, Gospel Gold, Peace Café, Ngomgqibelo, Real Vision etc.
Abaqondisi Brothers frequently performs at Festivals, Private Functions, Corporate Functions, Wedding Receptions, Church Services, Public Events, Cultural Events, and Graduation Ceremonies etc.

COTHOZA MFANA or ISICATHAMIYA is the name of the music. It is the music of men yearning for homes alone in an urban landscape "Yes" the music that celebrates and mourns a mesmerizing sound, the sound of Abaqondisi Brothers.
