Amakhono We Sintu (AWS), is a group of young talented out of school individuals who are making a mark in the performances arts industry. Established in 1997, this Company now consists of 20 vibrant artists. Some of the aims of AWS are to provide youth with employment, educate them about HIV & AIDS and use the power of the arts as an instrument to change the lives of vulnerable youth.
All of the performances of AWS have been met with a lot of praise and the Company is making regular appearances within both the private and public sector. Potential clients are given the opportunity of choosing from a variety of dance genres to integrate with and communicate their brand image and identity.
AWS has proudly shared the professional stage with South African music legends such as Moses Molelekwa, Hugh Masekela, the late Jabu Khanyile, Vusi Mahlasela, Busi Mhlongo and international artists Ishmael Lo, Dianne Reeves and the Art ensemble of Africa 2000.
A lot of AWS artists who have moved on are now members of critically acclaimed productions such as Drum Struck NY, Umoja the Spirit of Togetherness, The Lion King (France) and Gumboots.
