The southern African four-member group 340ml is currently based in Johannesburg but has its roots firmly planted in Mozambique. The release of their first album in 2003 earned them critical praise, and opened the doors to a wide range of public performances. Titled Moving, the album was one of the most effortlessly evocative recorded in South Africa during 2003, casting a musical glow that speaks of hazy beach sunsets, languid afternoons and blissed out summer fun. The Cape Town Tango Ensemble specializes in Argentinean Tango ranging from the old fashioned Classical Tango style from the first half of 20th century up to the Tango “Nuevo”, started and developed by the famous Argentinean composer and Bandoneon virtuoso Astor Piazzolla. Following in the tradition of the Romeros and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ), the Johannesburg Guitar Quartet (JGQ) formed in 2006 and has been making waves in the South African music industry ever since. Specialising in the performance of South American, Baroque and Modern classics, the JGQ do, however, have their musical feet firmly planted in South Africa and Africa.
