Balkantu’s music is a creative blend of Balkan/Gypsy- and light Classical styles that appeal to a wide range of audiences.  Their name adequately refers to the Italian words “bella canto” which means “beautiful song”.  This Stellenbosch based group showcases flashy ‘fiddling’, versatile piano expertise and impressive ensemble playing in a great variety of humm-able, toe-tapping tunes.  They skillfully revive popular classics and well-known gypsy songs with playful improvisation while maintaining the integrity and quality of the music. The Majore Duo was formed in 2001 when Sheryl Deane and Lucia Scott met in Cape Town.  They have since played for many embassies and corporate  functions, including playing for Prince Edward and Prince Philip in 2002 and 2003. Sheryl has also played solo guitar for Nelson Mandela. The duo combine two string instruments, one plucked and one bowed.. More

Established by Laurie Howe,  Lyric Ensemble has been part of South Africa's music industry for 10 years. Laurie moved to South Africa after completing her Masters degree in New York. Here she was the assistant principal cellist for the SABC Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra. MORE
