CAPE TANGO ENSEMBLE
Based in Cape Town
The Cape Town Tango Ensemble specializes in Argentinean Tango ranging from the old fashioned Classical Tango style from the first half of 20th century up to the Tango “Nuevo”, started and developed by the famous Argentinean composer and Bandoneon virtuoso Astor Piazzolla. Their latest ideas explore the mixing between African Rhythms and sounds with the “Tango Nuevo” style. Hence is the name of their album “Tango in Africa ”. MORE

CAVATINA QUARTET

Cavatina Quartet, consisting of Flute, Violin, Viola and Cello, was formed in 1991 and since then has been presenting concerts and providing music for functions at Cape Town’s top venues. These professional and experienced musicians are known for their flair and versatility, superb attention to detail and outstanding personal service. With flute, strings and harp, Cavatina also offers a variety of combinations.

THE GUGULETHU TENORS

The Gugulethu Tenors , consisting of Mpendulo Yawa, Siyabulela Gqola, Loyiso Dlova & Xolani November, have been performing together, belting out their favourite operatic pieces, since they left Fezeka High School 7 years ago. The lads share a passion for opera, a bold music choice in a society infatuated by hip hop and kwaito. MORE

JOHANNESBURG GUITAR QUARTET
Based in Johannesburg
Following in the tradition of the Romeros and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ), the Johannesburg Guitar Quartet (JGQ) formed in 2006 and has been making waves in the South African music industry ever since.
Specialising in the performance of South American, Baroque and Modern classics, the JGQ do, however, have their musical feet firmly planted in South Africa and Africa. The ensemble is known to deconstruct South American rhythms and accentuate the African roots of these styles such as the rumba, samba and the milonga. MORE

LYRIC ENSEMBLE
Based in Johannesburg
Established by Laurie Howe, Lyric Ensemble has been part of South Africa's music industry for 10 years. Laurie moved to South Africa after completing her Masters degree in New York. Here she was the assistant principal cellist for the SABC Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra. The group consists of professional musicians who were trained locally and internationally, and who currently play in professional orchestras in the Gauteng Area. MORE

MOTSWAKO STRING QUARTET
Based in Johannesburg
The Motswako String Quartet – often booked as an alternative to the world-renowned Soweto String Quartet – was formed in 2000, and comprises of violinists Bernard Madumo and Tshepo Mngoma, violist Tshepo Komane and cellist Kutlwano Masote. The talented four are all Classically trainedstring players, and work as freelance musicians for the JMI Orchestra, the Johannesburg Philharmonic, the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, as well as the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa. PIZZAZZ STRING QUARTET
Based in Cape Town
Pizzazz String Quartet is an ensemble made up from music students from the University of Cape Town College of Music. The quartet consists of Sarah-Jane Frith on first Violin, Nadine Roussopoulos on 2nd Violin, Azra Isacs on Viola, and Margherite de Villiers on Cello. Since 2004, Pizzazz has performed at weddings at numerous venues around the Western Cape, including Zorgvliet, Langverwacht, Zevenwacht, The Aquarium, Rhodes memorial, etc. MORE
