nokrismesi Skota (kimmy), soprano

Based in Cape Town

Nokrismesi Skota (soprano) sang the role of Gilda in Cape Town Opera’s production of Rigoletto at the Joseph Stone Theatre in Athlone 2008.

She won the SAMRO overseas scholarship in 2007. While she was a member of the Cape Town Opera Studio she performed the role of  the Housemaid in Cape Town Opera’s Rusalka at the Baxter Theatre Centre, and during a tour of Umea in Sweden in 2006. Other roles include Frasquita in Carmen for Cape Town Opera, the Television Singer in Thomas Rajna’s Valley Song at Spier in Stellenbosch, Papagena in The Magic Flute and Tatania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for CTO and UCT Opera School at the Baxter Theatre.  In 2003 she sang Despina in Così fan Tutte, followed by Papageno and the First Boy in The Magic Flute. She sang the role of Prince Orlofsky’s Assistant in Die Fledermaus at Artscape and also sang in Cape Town Aqua Opera at the V&A Waterfront. Oratorio performances include Carmina Burana with the Cape Phiharmonic Orchestra at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and African Sanctus with Rustenburg High School in Cape Town.

Born in Dordrecht, Eastern Cape , Nokrismesi completed her B.Mus. Hons Degree at UCT under Virginia Davids. She was a member of the Cape Town Opera Studio in 2005 and 2006 and also performed in Phillip Miller’s Rewind A Cantata which was performed in Brooklyn, Cape Town and at the Market Theatre in Joburg. She was one of the soloist performing in the Starlight concert conducted by Richard Cock with the Standard Bank Twenty tenors .
