23-year-old Zami Mdingi is no newcomer to the scene. Having performed with some of the leading lights of the South Africa in music industry as a singer, among them Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse. Zami also provided the vocals for the Spencer Mbadu Sextet at the 2006 Cape Town International Jazz Festival to critical acclaim, proving she's a vocalist of real range and depth.

Zami's debut album, "Shades of Me", appeared in 2006. The 14-track offering lays bare the considerable talent of a singer that many in the industry have been aware of for some years. It was with the renowned Spencer Maduma Sextet that Zami first road-tested several of the songs on 'Shades Of Me', including 'Ithonga Lam', which appears on the album in two versions - a hip-hop mix and a house mix, both of which shine the spotlight on her unmatched versatility as a singer.

Zami has the astonishing ability to tackle everything from jazz to African, dance, R&B, traditional music and more; all blended together into a unique sound that really represents "who she is".
